Matthew Vassar Twilight: Preliminary results

We are still awaiting complete, official results from tonight’s meet at Vassar College. Here are partial/pretty close results, and a few highlights:

--The 10km was a farewell journey of 25 laps for Ryan Brown, Luke Shane and Rob Gorski. Brownie went out in style with a second-place finish. Luke had a strong PR, just a few weeks removed from his hot Boston Marathon performance. Rob put in a great final effort in the red and white, before he transfers across the river to our friends at SUNY New Paltz.
--The 5km featured a pressure-packed victory for Marist Running Alum Justin Harris. Jut had every part of his past and present in collegiate running in the house on this day. The current Marist team was there to cheer him on; the SUNY New Paltz team, where Justin coached cross country for several years, was there; and, of course, the Vassar College team, where Jut is now an assistant coach, was present to watch their coach show them how it was done – with a 2:56 last 1km en route to a sizzling victory.
--Under a bright late afternoon sun, hammer thrower Sean Ellman got second and school record holder and long-ago Marist Alum Peter Van Aken got fourth.
--Lastly, the 1,500 featured a solid effort from sophomore Chris Reynolds.
--Freshman Mark Valentino downloaded a split-taking app onto his smart phone and tested it out successfully during the 10km. It was really cool and really accurate!

Check back Saturday for complete official results and splits.
