Senior Kristi
Licursi completed her Marist career in fine style, with a career-best time at
Penn Relays. Competing in the Olympic development 5km racewalk – actually, all
the women’s racewalkers started together in a large field of more than 20
athletes – she surged to her best time of 26:31.20. Kristi has truly been a
trailblazer for our program, and she has paved the way for current and future
racewalk success. Although the NCAA does not support racewalk as a sport or an
event, we are proud to have Marist students wear our singlet in races. Kristi
was the first women’s racewalker to do so, and the future here is bright in
this niche sport within track and field. Nicely done, Kristi, and thanks for
all you have done for our program.
