It started out as a way to cover up a cracked clipboard; that cracked clipboard is in a landfill somewhere. It has now morphed into a cacophony of numbers, littering the back of yet another clipboard. And maybe a little badge of honor as well. Since the end of indoor track, this clear, plastic clipboard has been adorned with various and numerous hip numbers from Marist racers. Of late, there has been talk (mostly from me) of "clipboard-worthy" races -- you know, a strong PR effort, something like that, and let's have that hip or chest number for the collection. We have many metrics by which to measure success: ECAC/IC4A qualifiers, school records, personal records, heat winners, etc. And now we have a new metric: Clipboard-worthy. Here's to many, many more in the coming weeks. Those of you who remember my old white Subaru know that I love stickers. I've started a new collection. Neat.
