Two great races
last night out in Azusa Pacific! Ramsey Little broke the 11-year-old outdoor
school record in the 5,000 with his stellar performance in the fast heat,
running 14:15.17. This time is about one second off his all-time school record,
set last month at the IC4A indoor championships. He breaks Will Griffin’s 2011
mark of 14:31.91, a record that lasted a remarkably long time! Although we don’t
have splits, from what the guys who watched the race live said, he rolled very
even 1km splits in the 2:50/2:51 range, toughing it out on a night when he admittedly
wasn’t feeling his best. Awesome stuff! Similarly, Tori Mariano notched a PR
time in the women’s 5km, running 17:33.22 and basically matching the time she
ran two weeks ago at Colonial Relays (she was 0.21 faster out in California).
Like Ramsey, she hadn’t been feeling 100 percent in the leadup to the race; any
PR is great, and she’ll take it as another excellent building block. We are on
our way to Bucknell now; internet on the bus is spotty, so we’ll update the
blog as we can tonight and tomorrow.
