In the "a picture is worth a thousand words" department: Ramsey Little left NC State and the Raleigh Relays on crutches after his 10,000-meter race on Friday night. About two-thirds into the race, he stepped hard on the inside rail with his right foot (we're still trying to figure out how that happened!), and while he still finished the race, it was in a lot of pain. He refused to DNF. I didn't see it happen and I thought he was just struggling through a difficult race (the 25-lap 10km race is NOT EASY). He was rolling a good pace for the first 20 minutes or so of the race. His finishing time of 29:54.24 was not what we had hoped for. More importantly, the worry that an X-ray when we get home will show something really bad is REALLY not what we are hoping for. He placed 70th overall and 24th in his section. But again, we hope his race finish is not THE race finish for him in a Marist singlet. Is that overly dramatic? Gosh, I sure hope so.
