I’m not a big fan of pomp and circumstance – not to mention
all the LOUD MUSIC – at Armory track meets. However, Friday afternoon’s brief
ceremony celebrating 100 years of track at the Armory was pretty cool. Dr. Norb
Sander led a celebration of the anniversary of the first-ever indoor track meet
held at the Armory, on January 10, 1914 – exactly 100 years to the day before
this year’s NYC Gotham Cup.
Here is an excellent article on the anniversary from armorytrack.com.
