Thanks to Marist track school record holder David Marthy for sharing the following pictures of his summiting the highest peak in New York State -- Mt. Marcy. Yes. I know. Marthy. Marcy. It's a pun waiting to happen. I will hold off on that. It's too easy, even for an idiot like me.
David reported that he and his unidentified friend hiked 14.2 miles to the 5,344-foot (1,629-meter) peak, and it took them 7 hours. Clearly, this was no 800-meter sprint for Marthy.
