Stefan Morton became the 24th runner in track
school history to break 15 minutes for 5,000 meters. He did it in tough,
bruising fashion at Penn. He was in the second section, which was probably too fast
for him. He hung tough and made moves early when he had to. After a relatively
slow 74-second lap, he responded by lowering the pace and passing a few
runners, and then he hung on with a solid last 800 meters in order to dip under
the mark with a 14:58.19. Congrats to Stefan for joining this elite club. The
updated list is below, and the splits below were taken from the finish line of
the race.
