Colonial Relays: A visit from Marthy
His name is up there, among the pantheon of track greats past and present at Marist, for all to see on the way to practice in the McCann Center. On the record board, it states that David Marthy set the school record in the 800-meter run and the 1,000-meter run in 2014. The name, events and time are up there for all to see and chase. Today, our young middle distance runners got to meet the man in person, as Marthy drove down from the Washington, DC area, where he is currently stationed in the US Army, to visit with his old team and talk track. It's gratifying to know that Marthy still follows the team and cared enough to drive several hours each way in his trusty old truck to watch his old school. Neat.
