Bucknell Bison: Women's results, Saturday afternoon/evening

Another great night for the women on the outdoor magic carpet, highlighted by some amazing races under the lights in the invitational 1,500.

--Emily Burns celebrated her birthday in grand style with a school record and an ECAC qualifying mark in 4:33.35. Her section went out relatively slowly, so she had to really blitz an impressive negative-split race. It was thrilling and inspiring to watch, as you can see by the birthday love she received immediately after the race.
--Denise Grohn won her section and got the ECAC mark as well (4:33.97), with a tremendous finishing kick. Also thrilling to watch! See photo above of Denise and Emily, newly minted ECAC qualifiers. In the same race, Janelle Solviletti ran a tough and aggressive race, and a PR of 4:35.12. Also in the same section, Shea Bohan ran an equally tough race with very fast early splits, as is her style, setting up a successful section and setting the tone for our team in this event.
--And the night concluded with an ECAC qualifying mark for Hayley Collins in her 10km debut (36:16.68). A strong debut for Hayley in the 25-lap race that it among the toughest in track and field. Nicely done!
--Earlier in the meet, during the insane heat, Jordan Casey ran a strong and gutsy PR in the steeplechase. She aggressively moved up throughout the field and got a top-5 finish. Neat.

Be patient for Sunday results updates, as I will be driving a van back to Marist after the meet rather than riding on the bus.
