April continues to be an unrelenting month of weather. Oh
wait. We probably shouldn’t complain. We’re not running in the Boston Marathon on Monday, which will feature strong and gusty easterly winds and pouring
rain throughout the day. Geez. Sunday at Bucknell was your standard issue damp
and dreary day, with temperatures in the 40s and a light drizzle or cloudy or
(at the end of the day) a steady drizzle turning to rain. As a result, as you’ll
see, there are no splits for individual races and just a few relay splits
listed here. For you numbers geeks out there, I apologize. A few highlights
from today:
--Debbie Boerke with a strong second-place finish in the 400
hurdles.
--The 800-meter women with personal- or season-best times,
as well as great doubles from Denise Grohn and Shea Bohan.
--A second-place finish in the 3,200-meter relay for women.
--A major breakthrough effort for Eamonn Beers in the
3,000-meter run, and a big PR from Matthew Ronan in the same event.
--Drew Burns winning his heat in the 800-meter run in a
daredevil fashion, weaving in and out of traffic over the final 200 meters of
the race.
-Some good, spirited instrasquad fun in the 4x400 relays,
featuring some fast splits on a lousy day for sprinting. Special shout-out to
Steven Rizzo who came back to anchor the “A” team in this relay, despite having
done a 10-mile long run in the morning. He plugged the hole quite nicely.
