Tower of power: A hill of a run

We still have athletes training for upcoming championship meets -- ECAC, IC4A, NCAA Regionals, USATF Juniors. But for the majority of our team, the competitive training and racing season is over. However, you can't take the run out of runners, and a few of our guys decided to tackle the Tower run for old-time sake on Tuesday morning. Tower used to be a staple of the men's distance team, but it has fallen out of favor over the past few years, because, well, it's pretty darn hard. The run entails crossing over the Hudson River (old-school Tower course was over the Mid-Hudson Bridge, and that's what our guys did on Tuesday), across Route 9W in Highland, and directly up Illinois Mountain to the radio tower at the top. Roundtrip, it's about 14 miles. And yeah, Illinois is indeed a mountain, so the hill is pretty significant, as you can see in the chart above. Here are photos of the run statistics as well as a goofy selfie of the Tower of Power runners -- Johnny Lee, Omar Perez, Jake Hensler (nice face, bro), Pat Rynkowski.
