Two men's school records were set on Saturday at the Fred Hardy Invitational at Richmond:
--The 4x100 relay team of Mike McCloskey, Tyler Schwarz, Darren Bushey and Jesse Aprile ran 43.33, tying the existing school record. The team placed fourth in a competitive field. Fun fact: Every class is represented on this relay. McCloskey is a senior; Schwarz is a freshman; Bushey is a junior; Aprile is a sophomore. That is an excellent accomplishment this early in the season!
--The 4x800 relay team of Chris Vanzetta (1:57.1), Tom Lipari (1:58.8), Kyle Havard (1:55.7) and Matt Panebianco (1:56.6) broke the school record with their second-place time of 7:48.55. Tom Lipari had two adventurous handoffs, making his split all the more remarkable. Kyle Havard completed perhaps the best meet of his collegiate career, following up his 7-second PR in the 1500 from the night before. Chris Vanzetta ran his usual strong leg, and Matt Panebianco gutted out a great anchor leg despite a nagging foot injury. Nicely done!
More highlights and results to come when I can ...
