Even though it wasn’t his best executed race, it was his best time – and the first time in school history a sprinter has broken 11 seconds for the 100-meter dash. Congrats to junior captain Jeremy Mooney for breaking his own school record in the 100, clocking in at 10.98 seconds and shaving 0.04 off his time from last week’s MAAC finals. Jeremy worked extremely hard during the endless pauses from practice and he emerged in our truncated season with some breakthrough races. On Saturday afternoon, he felt his start wasn’t perfect and his last few meters were a bit tight too. But he bulled through for the fastest time in school history, which is awesome.
Freshman Roshan Kalikasingh got dragged out at a crazy fast pace for the first 200 meters of his 800-meter race and never fully recovered from that early blitz. It was a good experience for Roshan to race at ICs, and he’ll get another crack at it on Sunday afternoon in the 4x800 relay.
Finally, in the evening’s last event – the 10,000-meter run – Matt Hartman went out at a breakneck fast pace for the first 1600m and 3200m, and it cost him a shot at a personal-best time. Hartman hung on gamely and kept fighting, also gaining valuable experience in a shortened season.
