How exciting was it to watch the Olympic Trials racewalk on Peacock this morning? It was equally thrilling to obsessively refresh the live results, where all 40 500-meter splits were being posted. Obviously, it was more thrilling (and appropriate) for Coach Chuck and Coach Billy to be out there cheering on and coaching on our ladies. Marissa Sciotto and Marist alum Katie Miale worked together for the majority of the race, with Katie pulling ahead in the late stages of the race. Both of them walked wonderfully, with Katie getting 10th and Marissa a few strides back in 12th. Mia Priore had a tough day, having to bow out after 7km due to a balky knee. Mia wasn’t even sure she was going to be racing until a few weeks ago! Anyway, we’re proud of them all. For the second consecutive Olympic cycle, we had athletes in the 20km racewalk event. Neat!
