Our morning run group ushered in 2018 with a chilly -- very, very chilly -- 7.5-mile run. Schneider, who took this selfie and posted it on Facebook, also posted a picture of the outside thermometer in his truck, which read -10 (minus-10 degrees!) at 7:40 a.m. We started our run at 8 a.m., a leisurely holiday special as opposed to our usual 5:30 a.m. start on Mondays. My car read minus-7 as I stepped outside and embarked on our run through Poughkeepsie. Yeah. It was cold, but we got through it, at a very respectable 8:30/mile pace too. The mid-week temperatures look to be in the mid-20s, but then we get some snow and a truly brutal deep freeze on Friday and Saturday. Is it going to be a long winter? It sure seems like it! Happy New Year.
