Good morning, McCann Center: For real!

The last time I titled a post like this, it was to write about a rooster that calls the dumpsters behind the McCann Center home. Today, as we speak, the men and women of our wonderful track and field team (not cross country, track and field) are meeting and working out with Strength and Conditioning Coach Jon Clancy in the Fitness Center. They will be meeting Coach Clancy every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:45 a.m. Since this is my prime time for jogging, I took a morning off instead to come and check in on them. They were all here, ready to work. Great to see.

There was some debate (as you can imagine) over this early-rising workout regimen. The idea came from several upperclass women on the team, as a way to alleviate the fact that they could not get everyone together at the same time on the same day. Obviously, there are few if any conflicts at 5:45 a.m. Again, this met with some intense discussion and consternation in some corners of the program. Coach Clancy, of course, loves this. This, too, is his prime time, and it gives him the opportunity to work with our athletes, unfettered by phone calls, other requests and the usual distractions of the busy Fitness Center bustle, when the rest of the world is awake. And so it was decided that this would work, and that this would be the best time to do this.

On your mark. Get set. Go! Here we are. The new Dawn Patrol begins. Good stuff.
