In one of the most unlikeliest school records in recent memory, super senior sprinter Danielle Asaro shattered the mark in the 200-meter dash. Danielle had perhaps her best start ever, and poured it on for a finishing time of 25.68 seconds, eclipsing Chrissy McDevitt's 2007 mark of 26.02.
What made this school record so unlikely? Well, because Danielle was sick in bed yesterday with flu-like symptoms. It was not even clear she would make it to the meet -- one loyal alum wondered via text why I would even let her on the bus, given her illness. The majority of the ride to Boston, Danielle was asleep and curled under a blanket on the bus. And her 60-meter dash from earlier in the day was a less-than-spectacular (for her) 8.11 seconds. So as Coach Horton and I watched from high above the Track and Tennis Center, you could forgive us a bit of disbelief. We'll take it!
