After all these years, decades of van rides, thousands of blog posts, endless meets, endless seasons, endless practices off-campus ... it's incredible to announce that Marist College has plans to build an outdoor track facility on our beautiful campus, at North Field. Most if not all of you reading this blog post are probably aware of this -- through social media, email, etc. If this post is "breaking the news" to you! I'm honored and humbled to do so.
If all goes well, the track should be completed in time for our current teams to be practicing on it (and, who knows, maybe competing in a meet at home!) by spring of 2025. That's really soon! That's the next academic year. Exciting times, to be sure. The projected timetable = construction starting in late spring/early summer. This should have the track and turf portion of the project completed by early in 2025. Again, that's pretty soon!
For those who got the news through various Marist media outlets, you know that the College is seeking support for this endeavor. It is my hope that you will consider financial support for this project, and for our program. But hey, there's plenty of time for that, and we'll be sure to plan some alumni outreach and events -- to get everyone together, get us all energized ... and, yeah, hit you up for some $$ for this project.
For now, let's bask in a moment we never thought we'd see. A track is coming to the Marist College campus. What, my friends, can be neater than that!
