The President does work in the Oval Office. The Presidents
do work at the Oval Office. President Obama = White House. Franklin D.
Roosevelt High School Presidents Track and Field = Brand New Track Facility in
Hyde Park. The coaches and runners have taken to calling it the Oval Office.
Get it? The track is an oval. The team is the Presidents – Hyde Park is the
home of FDR, after all. Oval Office. It’s got a nice ring to it.
For the first time in an estimated 30 years, FDR hosted a
home track and field meet. On Monday, it was a simple dual meet against
Highland High School. The day was a standard-issue early spring in the
mid-Hudson Valley: Overcast, damp, cool. By the end of the meet, it was raining
and the wind was gusting. But track is back in Hyde Park, after a long while.
Long live the Oval Office.
