How odd was it, after shivering through the past four months, to be at Colonial Relays with blazing hot sun and beach-like weather this afternoon on the first day here in Williamsburg? It was equally odd considering the weather for the morning distance races was cool and overcast. Once the sun burned through, the sun burned through -- on our ears, the backs of our necks, foreheads and any other exposed skin.
Who knew? We have spent weeks and months trying to avoid exposing our skin to the cold and wind and ice and snow. Today, we reached for the sunscreen to protect our exposed skin from the 80-degree beauty of the afternoon.
Saturday's weather looks a bit cooler, sunny and in the 70s. We'll take it.
