Norrie Point: End to the holidays

The unofficial conclusion to the holiday season in our world happens each year at Norrie Point in Staatsburg, with the 50-kilometer ultramarathon race that I organize with my old friend Charlie Sprauer. This was the 21st year for our race, and the weather was as good as it could have been for early January in the mid-Hudson Valley -- cloudy, relatively mild (40ish degrees), a little light rain, no wind. We had a bonfire going all day and it was good fun. A relatively small turnout in terms of race finishers; but as you can see, those that finished have a lot of history with our humble little race. It was quite symbolic that, as the final finishers were charging to the end of the 10-lap race, several of our Marist runners showed up for an afternoon tempo workout. It figuratively and literally signified the shift from the holiday times with family and friends to the "regular programming" with our second family, the Marist Track Team. Here are results from today, along with a photo of the race winners early in the event.
