Happy New Year: Hockey and downhill mile

Teammates Pat Deedy, Doug Ainscow and Mark Valentino ran the Millennium Mile in New Hampshire on New Year's Day. This is a downhill, point-to-point mile that usually yields insanely fast times. The weather was a bit chilly and that slowed things somewhat. You can see the official results here.

Tino won the battle of Marist Bros with his 10th place finish of 4:22.95. Doug was next, narrowing beating Deedy in 4:31.98 to 4:32.92. They were 16th and 17th, in a field of 1,601 finishers.

The night before, our guys were at the Islanders-Bruins game in Boston (photo below). I'd give you the details of the hockey game ... but please! It's the NHL. Other than the fact that Tino got me a killer Islanders winter hat last year (and trust me, with this weather it's in the heavy rotation), who has interest in such things until the playoffs (and even then?). Great job, men!
