Pandemic Papers pause: End of an era, Coogan’s closes
As we put our
interviews on a brief pause, there is some news to catch up on. Let’s
start with the closing of Coogan’s, the restaurant/bar around the corner from
the Armory in Washington Heights. One of its owners, Peter Walsh, is a 1968
Marist alum and true friend to our program. Coogan’s was a true friend to the
running community. Its shuttering is no surprise, considering these dramatic
times in which we live, and its grave impact on the restaurant community. While
it is no surprise – they narrowly averted closure two years ago – it’s still a
bummer. Like so much else these days.
