Two generations of Marist Running on Staten Island

The new and the old merged on Sunday in Staten Island, as current team member Kyle Hannafin and loyal alum Marty McGowan met up at the Forest Avenue Mile. Kyle capped a tough week of training with a strong mile race down there, placing third overall.

In the "it's a small world" department, Kyle and Marty live in the same neighborhood on SI and Marty knows many members of the Hannafin family very well, going back a few generations. For someone who graduated Marist more than 40 years ago (who's counting?), Marty's looking pretty darn good. Kyle too, but that's to be expected.
