BU Valentine: Women's highlights

A strong afternoon and evening for the ladies!

--Junior sprinter Danielle Asaro had a tremendous day. She bolted to a school record in the 60-meter dash in 8.03 seconds. This was a breakthrough effort, as she had set and re-set and re-set her school mark by running 8.11 three times this season.
--Danielle capped off a stunningly awesome day with a personal-best time in the 200-meter dash of 26.41. That school record is less than half a second away from her grasp. Nicely done, Danielle!
--Sophomore Kristen Traub ran her first-ever sub-10:00 in the 3,000-meter run and earned an ECAC qualifying mark with a gutsy performance. Kristen ran 9:55.30, bettering the ECAC standard by about 3.5 seconds. Excellent job, Kristen!
--Freshman Molly Weeks continued her superb season with the highest individual finish of the day -- ninth in the 500-meter dash. Her time of 1:16.38 was just 0.30 off the school record she set two weeks prior at the Terrier meet.
--There were a bevy of season- and personal-best times in the rest of the events, mostly by freshmen, so the future is bright.
--Marist Running Alum Katie Messina, now running for New Balance Boston, had a stellar PR performance in the 5,000-meter run (17:20.91). She joined her close friend and teammate, Kathryn Sheehan, who finished the 5,000 as a member of the Marist Alumni Racing Team in 17:56.23. It was so cool to see them back on the track racing together again.

Results and splits to follow ...
