Presidents reunite at a different Oval Office

Great to see Marist Track Alum (and former FDR High School assistant track coach) America (“Chris Coscio”) at BU on Saturday. He was in town and he stopped in on one of his former FDR athletes, current freshman Paul Sandford. Paulie didn’t disappoint Coach America, notching a three-second PR in the 1,000-meter run. From one Oval Office to another, the FDR/Foxes connection runs deep. Neat.

BU Valentine Invitational: Men's results

The magic strikes again at Boston University. Top to bottom, it was a superb day for the men’s track team (after a good start with the women’s DMR in the morning). Makes the “rust” of two weeks ago at Ocean Breeze seem like two months ago, doesn’t it? From top to bottom, here are some quick highlights, along with the results:

--As noted in previous post, sprinter Jeremy Mooney shattered the school record in the 200-meter dash. Prior to that, he had a strong 12th place finish in the 60-meter dash.
--Senior captain Santosh Krishnan notched indoor personal-best times in the 200 and 400 dashes, and finished the day with a strong split on the 4x400 relay.
--CSG and Ropes had strong races, with Zachary Ropes returning to the track for his first race in two years! We sorely missed our long and lean racing machine.
--Freshman Paul Sandford notched a strong PR in 1000.
--Moe and Sweeney had strong PRs in mile.
--Czop and Kutch had solid PRs in 3km.
--Along with the new sub-15 guys in the 5km, all four entrants ran personal-best times in the event, working together for most of the race. See picture above.
--And finally, there were some strong splits in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.

We love this place and we are eager to return for the Valentine Invitational in three weeks.

BU Terrier Invitational: Jeremy Mooney gets school record in 200 dash!

Sophomore sprinter Jeremy Mooney had a major breakthrough in the 200-meter dash on Saturday afternoon, notching both a school record AND a first-ever IC4A qualifier in that event, eclipsing fellow Connecticut native Tim Johnson’s three-year-old mark by .30. And, as you can see by this starting photo (taken by Zachary Ropes' dad, Charlie), Jeremy did it from the least preferred lane (lane 6). Like Ramsey Little in the men’s 5km, Jeremy is a relative newcomer to the sport, having never run track in high school. His goal since joining the team was to “get on the (record) board” and he has now accomplished that. There are more records to chase, but for today, this is an excellent start to his pursuits. Nicely done!

BU Terrier Invitational: sub-15:00 list grows!

For the first time in several years, the sub-15 list for 5,000 meters grew by two names on Saturday night at BU, with senior Chrisopher Rivas (16th) and freshman Ramsey Little (23rd) joining the list below of immortal Forever Foxes. For Rivas, it was a major breakthrough effort and well-deserved for the dedicated captain and worthy Gregory J. Salamone Memorial Scholarship recipient for this school year. Fitting that he joins Greg on the all-time list. For Ramsey, it was a remarkable effort in his second-ever track race (his first being the 5km at Gotham Cup last Friday night). Ramsey never ran track in high school. Their official race splits from Lancer Timing are below as well. Good stuff, men.
