Tunnel of love: Bell lap for an awesome career

The "practice tunnel" has become an on and off tradition for the men's team. When a graduating senior is completing his last interval of his final track workout of his senior year, his teammates form a tunnel at the finish and cheer him (or them) on. This year, because of disjointed schedules last week, we weren't able to continue this tradition for our seniors. But yesterday, as our IC4A-qualifying athletes were doing their final workout of the season, they were able to form a small but meaningful "tunnel" for graduating senior Stefan Morton. As I said in the senior dinner last week, Stefan was a true winner in our program. Every time something special happened on our team in the past four years, Stefan always seemed to be in the middle of it -- closing out a surprise or historic team finish in XC, being part of (or filling in for) the best track relay teams in school history, making IC4As as an individual in the 1,500 two years in a row (I believe no one else has ever done that!). So this tunnel of love was a fitting practice finish to a true heart-and-soul team member for the past four years, a dude we will miss greatly for sure. OK!
