As a track program, we are so very proud of our own
Kristi Licursi, who will be representing Marist College track and field at the
Millrose Games on Saturday at the Armory. As many of you know, Kristi is a
racewalker. She will be competing in the USATF Championship 1-mile racewalk at
12:25 p.m. The entry field is listed below. We are proud of the fact that Kristi
is the only collegiate entrant. Collegiate racewalkers are rare, mostly because
it is not a college event. However, here at Marist, we are proud to have Kristi
– who qualified for the USATF Junior Championships after her freshman year –
and freshman Katie Miale, also a USATF Junior qualifier in the racewalk.
Longtime followers of the program will recall that one of the country’s best
racewalkers in the late 1970s and 1980s, Mike Morris of Poughkeepsie, competed
for Marist. So, we have some history in our program for that quirky outpost of
track and field known as the racewalk. We are thrilled to have walkers on our
team, and we know that Kristi will represent our school with pride. Here are a
few pictures I snapped during our Tuesday practice at the SUNY New Paltz Big
Blue Doughnut. I will share these with GoredFoxes.com for usage there as well.
