Chill in the air/Princeton meet information

Fall has finally arrived in the Mid Hudson Valley. Shorts weather lasted all through September and into October for me, much much later than normal. Well, now the chill is back. The mornings and evenings, especially, have a nip to them now. As you would expect.

Warning to members of the men's and women's XC teams, who will boarding a bus in the dark on Saturday morning: It will be COLD. Freezing. The forecast is for lows in the high-20s! But alas, by race time at Princeton later in the morning, it will be warmer and pretty nice for racing. For those interested in attending, here is the race schedule:

Women's Championship 6km: 10:30 a.m.
Men's Championship 8km: 11:15 a.m.
Women's Open 6km: Noon
Men's Open 8km: 12:45 p.m.

Here is the course information, provided by the meet management ...

Course:  The course is off Washington Road on the Princeton University campus.  It is located between Route 1 and Faculty Road (adjacent to Lake Carnegie). The course features 100% natural terrain. The majority of running is on a winding grass trail through farm fields. Runners will experience gradual elevation changes along the way. The course has good footing. The 6k will involve two large loops and the 8k will cover the same two large loops and an additional smaller loop. Course maps can be viewed and printed at: http://www.goprincetontigers.com/fls/10600/XC_Course_Site/XCcourses2.html

Lastly: Sorry for the relative lack of posts. It's midterm week and midterm time, which is busy for us all -- especially an old coach who also teaches two classes and does academic advising for stressed-out student-athletes. No complaints, it's all part of the deal.

Hope to see many of you on Saturday.
