AAU Championships, 2010

The fine Marist Running tradition of the AAU Championships (2x3200 meters at the McCann Center Track) was renewed today, on a day in which it easily could have been held outdoors.

Keegan was the overall champion, congrats to him, but no surprise considering he is our 10km specialist. A few other highlights of note:

-- Nicoletti was definitely the pre-meet focus of attention. He had never broken 10:00 for 3200 meters, and the buzz was to get him sub-10:00. He was nervous; according to Posch, his roommate and good friend, he was a basket case. But with the help of his friends and teammates, he came through it with flying colors. Nicely done, Nic!
-- Nestor broke away from the pack midway through the first race. The snickering that he wouldn't be able to hold it and would die was definitely audible. But our boy had a great day today and came close to Keegs for the overall title.
-- Brownie had never broken 10:00 until today! Congrats to him!
-- Joel M. continues to impress. After today, he is definitely pumped for the 10km. Me too!
-- Quimes decided on a whim to jump into the second one and cruised to victory.
-- Duggan had his usual strong showing and is looking really solid for 10km in the spring.

Dear Arquimides -

You risk soiling a fine Wantagh/Marist legacy by only doing one. "Sandbagging" may not be the correct term, but it comes to mind. What a PF.

Sincerely,

Walsh

How much break between the first and second 2 mile? I might suggest this as a good/fun workout for my track club.

Got to love the AAU Championships!

Great atmosphere!

Congrats to the finishers. And a big shout out to Girm, Vess, Raucci, Will and Flint for not running it this year, and keeping my record in the books for another year. Thanks fellas!

I thought the way the race was designed is that the 2nd 2 mile was to begin 20 minutes after the first two mile, older guys can correct me if i'm wrong on that.

Also i would never consult shelley for an important question
