Vassar track meet, 5.1.09

We had three guys run at the Vassar open meet on Friday night. It was a beautiful night as the rain and wind subsided. Assistant coach Joey had a lot of fun playing with Conor's Blackberry stopwatch.

Even an old-school fart like me had to fess up that the thing was pretty cool.

Anyway, Brownie had a fantastic PR in the 5km. Geist and Masto ran one last steeple in a race that featured just those two guys and a pretty fast Vassar guy who took the race out at like IC4A pace (everyone suffered). Anyway, the splits ...

3,000-meter steeplechase

Greg Masto: 10:28.76. Second place.
72, 2:34 (82), 3:58 (84), 5:23 (85), 6:49 (86), 8:17 (88), 9:44 (87), 10:28.76.

Kris Geist: 10:39.55. Third place.
74, 2:37 (83), 4:02 (85), 5:29 (87), 6:58 (89), 8:29 (91), 9:58 (89), 10:39.55.

5,000-meter run

Ryan Brown: 16:07.34. Fourth place. Personal-best time.
76.3, 2:35.8 (79.5), 3:52.4 (76.6), 5:10.1 (77.7), 6:27.0 (76.9), 7:44.9 (77.9), 9:03.0 (78.1), 10:21.2 (78.2), 11:39.7 (78.5), 12:58.4 (78.7), 14:16.6 (78.2), 15:32.3 (75.7), 16:07.34 (35.04). 1600m splits: 5:10.1, 5:11.1, 5:11.1. Comment: Wonderful, fantastic end to what has been a great and promising freshman year. You have established yourself as a legitimate D1 distance runner. You should be proud of that. I am.
