Sorry for the topic repetition, but this is an important debate about whether to stage the NYC Marathon. The decision has been made, but the discussion should continue. A few random thoughts that have come from smarter minds than me this morning ...
Why the race SHOULD be held: More than $34 million in charity funds have been raised, and those charities are counting on the dedicated runners to complete the task. Very fair point.
Why the race SHOULD NOT be held: Shouldn't we feel guilty about there being stocked aid stations (water stops) for us running the race, when millions in the city are scrambling to find drinking water for themselves and their families?
This discussion will continue in a few minutes in my 9:30 a.m. Track and Field Coaching class. If more/better ideas come of the class, I will be sure to post them after I return from the Expo in the city later today.
