There are many benefits to our split practice times most days -- 11 a.m. for the men, 2 p.m. for the women. We did, however, find one minor glitch in this system. Swampy seats. I'll explain.
Yesterday was muggy, humid and eventually rainy. The men completed their long tempo run in the midday practice. With warmup, cooldown and workout, it was a rather lengthy -- and sweaty -- 11- or 12-mile effort. You know where this is going. After their run, they got back in the vans. They sat on the seats. Listen. Many times, actions and behaviors of the guys can be indefensible. They can be immature buffoons. Of that there is no doubt. In this case, what are you gonna do? Sweat is sweat. And trust me. After a hard hill workout and a downpour at Bowdoin Park, those vans were plenty swampy after two hard practices. My advice? Bring towels, or just deal with the dampness. It's a great "problem" to have ...
