Bigger blue oval
We were over at SUNY New Paltz the past two afternoons using their track facilities. This statement is not earth-shattering news, as this has been our go-to venue for the winter months during the past five indoor track seasons. However! For both practices -- sprinters on Monday, middle- and long-distance on Tuesday -- the majority of the athletes did their track workouts ... on the 400-meter OUTDOOR track at SUNY. It's not the Big Blue Doughnut, the usual indoor track location, but rather the Bigger Blue Oval. It's a nice, 8-lane track, next two the Athletic and Wellness Center, with excellent views of the Shawangunk Ridge. This Oliver Stone-esque photo of the tops of ladies' heads highlights that view, with the Mohonk Preserve's Skytop in a distance. You'll notice NO SNOW on the turf field -- or anywhere -- in these photos. Still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that we skirted this major winter storm.
