These seasonal changes have a way of sneaking up on you. The last time we were at the Cator Loop on the upper grounds of the FDR Estate in Hyde Park, the main pathway was lined with colorful trees and leaves falling to the ground while our athletes ran hard down the path and occasionally tried to snag leaves falling in mid-air. On Tuesday for both men's and women's practices, that landscape changed dramatically and starkly. The trees were bare. Many limbs were strewn and scattered, lingering effects of last week's storm.
And, oh yeah: It was COLD. The high temperature in our area yesterday was just 41 degrees, about 15 degrees shy of the norm for this time of year.
Like our cross country season, autumn is in its waning days. There is a winter weather advisory for our area, with snow about to impact the region in a matter of hours. Could this portend a long, cold and snowy winter? Who knows ...
