This Pandemic
Papers series has brought alumni – already a strong group – together in ways
that probably wouldn’t have happened if we didn’t have this unique time.
Sometimes, unintended consequences bring about positives. Call them silver
linings among the proverbial dark clouds of our days. One group of alums, from
the mid to late 2000s (does that decade
have a “name”? … the “oughts”?), has been doing weekly challenges during
the quarantine. Their next one, a pre-Mother’s Day 4-miler, they would like to
open up to the entire Marist Running world – past, present, future. Prinz
(class of 2006) emailed me about it as asked me to plug it on the blog. Of
course! The six guys doing the weekly challenges are CT, Hopkins, Harris,
Schab, Rolek and Prinz.
Here are the details, from Prinz: Run a 4-miler anytime from on
Friday May 8th, 2020 or Saturday May 9th, 2020. Cut off for submitting results
is 5 p.m. EST on May 9th. Let's just have some fun. None of this is official. I'll
believe any time you submit. Treadmill, GPS watch, or app for measurement. Stay
safe. Follow all local and state rules with outdoor activities. Thanks!
Love this. I don't have Prinz's contact info, but any chance you could ask him to add another field to the form so we can add in notes about our race? Would be cool if there was space to share splits, video, notes on our virtual race, or context (e.g. this is my first "race" in 13 years).
ReplyDeleteHi Tom--great idea. I've added that section.
ReplyDeleteHave a good one!

Well shit, self prescribed a 20 minute tempo yesterday at 5:38 pace... THEN read this post! Forever Foxes have a group on Strava, if the slightly old(er than me) men mentioned above would be inclined!
ReplyDeleteForgive my ignorance but what's Strava?
