NYC Marathon: Fun in the sun

Our Marist Running Family was well represented in the NYC Marathon -- as well as on the sidelines -- on a sunsplashed day in the city. Here are the quick highlights with many photos to follow. The race app was addicting as I refreshed it about 100 times all morning and afternoon. Spencer Johnson (awesome in-race photo by Hild) gave us a thrill with his sub-2:30 early pace, but he got himself nicely acquainted with “the wall” before finishing strong with a PR time. He’ll get under 2:30 before long … he’s still very young at this marathon game. Proud of Fitz for his first sub-2:40, Omar for his first sub-3:00 and Annie for her … FIRST! Here are some preliminary digits:

Ryan Fitzsimons (Class of 2012, Central Park Track Club): 2:37:20, 111^th overall, 49^th among USA men

Spencer Johnson (Class of 2017, Marist Alumni Racing Team): 2:38:17, 120^th overall, 53^rd among USA men

Omar Perez: 2:56:15, PR, first time sub-3:00

Anthony Ferreri: 3:21:58, 16^th consecutive NYC Marathon finish

Kelley Posch: 3:32:50

Annie Gould: 3:35:36
