Vassar Twilight Meet: Misty-eyed on our "home" track

The ominous forecast turned out to be a dud -- this is a great thing! -- as the weather for tonight's last-ever Matthew Vassar Twilight track meet was nearly perfect for the athletes -- overcast, damp, cool, no wind. It did start misting and raining during the final event of the night, the men's 10km. But otherwise! The conditions were nearly ideal for the runners and most of the field events. The misty end to the evening was fitting, as this meet always proves to be another melancholy moment for our graduating seniors -- some of whom ran their final collegiate races in the red and white at Vassar. In some ways, finishing their careers on this track is more poignant than going out with a final race at the MAAC meet at Rider. How many mornings and afternoons have we spent here on our "home" track, doing workouts? How many van rides have we made over to Hooker Avenue? Way too many to count. We had some stellar final performances, and some of our younger athletes really ended their seasons on a positive note as well. A great finish to their seasons, and a good start to our weekend. I've often said this is one of my favorite track nights of the year, and tonight was no different. We'll miss this meet greatly. Results are not yet available. I will post them later or in the morning.

  1. I hope I didn't miss anyone today. It was fun to watch you all run. Some pictures may be a little more blurry than others. The light wasn't the best. However, there are a few decent ones. Enjoy. See you at the MAAC's!
