Monmouth Season Opener: The Missing 10km splits

As stated previously, split taking was a huge challenge in the awful weather conditions on Saturday at Monmouth. For the first two races of the day -- the unseeded 5km in which freshman Eddie White PRed by 20 seconds, and the 10km final -- the conditions were not all that bad. The rain was just starting, and the wind was persistent -- it's always persistent at Monmouth, which sits about a mile from the beach. Unfortunately, that split page from those races were destroyed in my soaking wet clothes bag.

However, from memory of their 5km splits, we can tell you this: The 10km guys ran an excellent races. Spencer Johnson and Omar Perez both ran negative-split efforts, and Doug Ainscow ran a solid, nearly even race, as you can see here.

10,000-meter run
2-Spencer Johnson 33:01.78
5km split: 16:51; second 5km: 16:10 (last 1600 in 5:09)
4-Omar Perez 33:29.29
5km split: 16:51; second 5km: 16:38
6-Doug Ainscow 34:03.62
5km split: 16:53 (I think he was a few steps behind those guys); second 5km: 17:10

In addition, Eddie closed in 72 for the last 400 and I overheard someone say he threw down a 31-second last 200. So ... NICELY DONE!

Still sorting out the rest of the crusty pages in my notebook and will post the splits when possible.
