MAAC meet, Day 1

The first day of the MAAC Outdoor Championships is complete, and it was a solid day for the Marist track program.

--On the men’s side, the team currently sits in third place with 31 points.

--A big part of that were the four scoring runners in the steeplechase, with Red Foxes getting second, third, fourth and fifth. Personal-best times were everywhere to be found, most notably Ken Walshak and Tommy Lipari.

--The two highest individual finishers were Quimes DelaCruz in the men’s steeple and Addie DiFrancesco in the women’s 10,000. Both got second place in strong efforts.

--The women’s 3,200-meter relay medaled and ran 13 seconds faster than their time from last year at this meet.

--The men’s 10k runners had a great night. Joel Moss scored with a strong fourth-place finish, just nine days after his grueling 10k at Penn. Billy Hild, Brian Townsend and Justin Tampellini all PRed.

--The men’s 3,200-meter relay team medaled and ran 7:44.04.

--Javelin thrower Jake Akey grabbed a scoring spot with a personal-best toss.
