A couple of quick items ...
-- Addendum to the weekend half-marathon results. Charlie Williams (the pride of Commack) ran the NYC race strongly in 1:28:30. He is training for the Vermont Marathon later this spring.
-- We WILL be running a men's 4x400 relay at Penn Relays this spring, provided everyone stays healthy and we have a strong team ready to compete well. This was not included in the preseason meet-by-meet breakdown. Everyone should be able to experience Penn, and this will give our long sprinters something to work for and chase as the spring meets proceed.
-- Murphy's Law of track weather was in full effect. Last week? Beautiful, sunny and warm. No practice. This week? Rainy and chilly (early) followed by extremely windy (today) at the Vassar Track. Much like youth is wasted on the young, the good weather was wasted on Spring Break week. Predictable.
-- Speaking of windy and chilly ... Monmouth. Saturday. Bank on it.
-- Speaking of Monmouth ... bus and van departure is 5:30. That's a.m., for those keeping score at home.
-- Mudders and Grunters this weekend. Big alumni turnout expected at Kirk and Liza's house. Be there or be square. Hopkins gets first dibs on comfy sleeping arrangements. Why? Come on! He's HOPKINS. He's the MAN.
Oh sure, Hopkins can have "dibs" on any sleeping arrangements he wants. In fact, I'm sure Kirk could give the rights of his own bed to Hopkins...
ReplyDelete...but the chances of Hopkins actually making it to said bed are nil, or worse!!
Mr. Walsh: Touche and excellent points about Hopkins. However ... "the chances of Hopkins actually making it to said bed are nil, or worse!" ... could we not fill in Hopkins with Walsh there? Pot calling the kettle black? I'm just sayin ...
ReplyDeleteHey, takes one to know one!
ReplyDeletePete,
ReplyDeleteAre you coming down to watch the race?
He can take a bed...Hopkins sleeps in his undies - I'd rather not have the only thing separating him and me be a small piece of cotton.
