The first week of practices are complete. By and large, it was a good week. If your first name was not Will.
Will Griffin showed up on Wednesday morning after a family holiday in Ireland, only to report he's got a slight Achilles issue. He is hammering away in the pool and hopefully this will only be a minor setback. He did a killer pool workout today and was really moving in there. Great to see. Hope to get him back on the roads soon.
Will Schanz, a freshman from Web's old school (Shaker), has a slightly more serious issue. After an awesome Minnewaska run this morning -- misty rain, temps in the low 60s ... perfect marathon weather! -- Will went for a dip in the lake. He then put on his flip-flops and inadvertently kicked a big boulder. After a trip to Emergency One in Hyde Park, he was diagnosed with a chip fracture. He will see the ortho guy next week for further evaluation, but he is destined for the pool himself for a few weeks anyway.
Long run from W1 on Saturday morning, 9 a.m.
Note to team: This is the first weekend of the school year, which generally means a lot of "social activity" on campus and off-campus. Remember our focus as a program. If you forget, I will be happy to remind you at 6 a.m. each morning for a few weeks. Is that a threat or a promise? BOTH. Don't test the waters.
Have an excellent evening and see you all bright and early.
Hey Pete,
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about the whole "social activity" thing, are you talking about bowling or hopscotch?
Hopkins, Pete is talking about Rollermagic in Hyde Park.
