Attention all alumni who are still active (road) race participants. I just noticed at the Dutchess County Classic half marathon -- long a favorite of Forever Foxes -- will have CASH PRIZES for the top-3 overall finishers (men and women) in the half marathon = $300 for first place, $200 for second place, $100 for third place. Consider registering for this and coming back to your home on the Hudson River to see your old school, your old coach ... and maybe earn some cold hard CASH for (still) being a FAST RUNNER! How neat is this? Hurry up and register here. Hope to see you back here in September (race date = Sunday, September 17 (half marathon and 10k).

USATF U20 racewalk = Mia Priore soars!
Sorry for the delay in posting this amazing result (and equally amazing and consistent splits) from last Saturday’s U20 championships out in Oregon. Rising sophomore Mia Priore continued our incredible racewalk tradition with this outstanding performance. Coach Chuck Williams deserves much kudos and credit for building this foundation of racewalk success and making Marist well-known and well-respected in the racewalk community. Highly neat!

Alumni wedding = Ned Kenyon
Another great alumni wedding, this past Saturday down at Stony Brook (Long Island), where Ned Kenyon (Class of 1999) got married to his lovely new wife, Eva. It was great to see old(er) alums from the late 1990s at the wedding (see group picture). Forever Foxes, indeed! (Should we have called it a “Nedding”?) Special shout-out to Pat Casey, who follows both of my blogs (this one and the Substack running column = please subscribe!), and encouraged me to “keep writing.” I’ll do my best, Pat! Thank you.

Team Wiesinger dominates at Cranford 4-miler
Thanks to Ian Wiesinger (right) for sending this (awesome) picture of him and his dad Gary from Tuesday's Cranford (NJ) Jaycees Firecracker 4-miler. Ian was third overall in 21:03.3 (5:15) pace and Gary was second in his age group in 27:03.5 (6:45 pace). Together, they won the father-son team competition. Highly neat. Also highly neat? Ian (a recent Marist graduate) is coming back for a fifth year to complete his athletic eligibility while pursuing a masters degree! Yay.
Pittsfield 5k -- Marist running romps!
Thanks to Easton Eberwein for sending me this (awesome) photo of him (right) and incoming freshman Dennis Love, from Tuesday's Berkshire Health Systems (BHS) 4th of July 5k in Pittsfield, MA. Dennis placed third overall out of nearly 1,000 participants in 16:15 and Easton (remember, he's a record-setting SPRINTER) was 23rd overall at 18:39 (6:00 pace). Easton lives in nearby Dalton and Dennis is from (also nearby) Lenox. They met at the 2022 race (fun fact = Easton was AHEAD of Dennis) and that helped to spark Dennis' interest in Marist. Highly neat!
